Mission Statement & Aims

Mission Statement

The Sisters of Charity Ob/Gyn Residency program prepares residents for their future careers in a supportive learning and working environment. Our program is unique in that it is located at a faith-based community hospital while benefiting from the academic resources and opportunities afforded by our affiliation with the University at Buffalo. We provide an opportunity for residents, including those with traditional religious and moral beliefs, to pursue training in their chosen field and to graduate as compassionate and competent Obstetrician-Gynecologists. These physicians are then able to go forth and serve the patients in our community and throughout the nation who seek and deserve a physician who understands, respects, and supports a faith-based approach to women’s healthcare.

Aims

Graduate residents who possess the necessary knowledge, technical skills, communication abilities, clinical judgment and professional responsibility to serve women with excellence and to meet the needs of the Western New York community as general Obstetrician-Gynecologists.

Provide the educational opportunities that enable residents to reach their full potential and achieve Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Graduate residents who are competent and comfortable caring for high-risk obstetrical patients with medical co-morbidities while practicing in accordance with national patient safety standards, systems-based guidelines and a team approach.

Graduate residents who are skilled at providing minimally invasive surgical options for the treatment of gynecologic conditions.

Promote physician well-being to foster a fulfilling and vibrant career.
