“Simple recipes that deliver nutrition and flavor are at the top of my list for everyday use. This Citrus Chickpea Salad comes together quickly and provides 7 grams of protein per serving.
Wondering where the added sugar is from? It’s due to the natural sweetener that is agave, a succulent plant used to make tequila. There’s no alcohol in agave syrup, but there is a good amount of fructose, the same sugar that is in many fruits. If you’re watching your added sugars, you can try this recipe with less than the recipe calls for, or none at all. Fructose, or any sugar, isn’t inherently “bad”: eating them in moderation is key, but many of us eat too many and aren’t aware of hidden sugars in our foods. If you’re concerned, you might need to cut back on your sugar intake, speak with your doctor or ask a Registered Dietitian.
Note that one serving of this recipe as prepared provides 2.5 carb servings, for those counting carbohydrates.”
