Our Licensed providers are required, as part of their professional responsibilities, to inform patients with the risks, benefits, and alternatives treatment options. Because our hospitals follow the Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives patients seeking treatments that are not offered at Catholic Health ("bottom" surgery or direct sterilization i.e. Hysterectomy, oophorectomy, orchiectomy, and similar types of surgery) may receive a recommendation for a second opinion in order to best decide on their treatment options. Recommendations for surgical consultation may occur to the University at Buffalo.
