Anas Ahmed, DO

Personal Info: I like to read about history, reasoning, rationality, logic, and I enjoy doing creative writing (short stories are my forte). Whenever time permits, I like going on road trips and traveling learning about countries and languages and seeing how different cultures and customs have evolved over time.
Why this Program? This family medicine program has a rich pedigree and is well established and trusted in the community. A strength of this program is having multiple private practice clinics affiliated with it around Buffalo, allowing you to see a multitude of patients with different backgrounds and disease pathology, with low patient no show rates. From an inpatient perspective you get to rotate through different sizes and specialty hospitals in the area working with many great well- trained specialists. Moreover, we have our own family medicine inpatient service allowing us to take care of our clinic patients when they are admitted to the hospital which facilitates good continuity of care. All in all, the long-term outlook of any program is dependent on the people it encompasses and the faculty, staff, and residents here are supportive, caring, and help foster to create an environment conducive to learning and getting a quality family medicine training.

Zeshma Durrani, DO

Personal Info: I grew up in Raleigh, NC, and lived in West Virginia for a few years while I was in medical school. I moved to Buffalo, NY to be closer to my extended family in Canada. I love how Buffalo offers a unique experience rich in nature, food, and culture. Besides medicine, I am interested in creating digital content, fashion, food and travel. I plan on settling in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY to raise my son with my husband.
Why this Program? The most attractive aspect of the Sisters Family Medicine program for me are the people that make up the program! Everyone that I communicated with during the interview process was very helpful, encouraging, and responsive. I am excited to have the opportunity to train locally at a clinically robust program that offers a great mix of inpatient medicine, outpatient medicine, and a great continuity experience in our established primary care clinic. I am glad to be here and look forward to learning from my faculty and peers and giving back to the community!

Matthew Jones, DO

Personal Info: Born and raised in the Buffalo area and there’s no where else I’d rather be! I worked as an Athletic Trainer before medical school, so sports have always been a big part of my life. I have an amazing wife and two kids at home that keep me grounded and always put a smile on my face.
Why this Program? With how much time we spend working as residents, I wanted to find a program that had a strong family feel and had residents that support one another. I spent most of my third and fourth year of medical school rotating through Sisters and always felt that this was the right place for me. Everyone is close knit and willing to lend a hand whenever you need it. I enjoy incorporating OMT in my care for patients and having a program with Osteopathic Recognition was important to me.

Joshua Korobok, DO

Personal Info: I grew up an hour and a half away in Toronto. My family and I would frequently visit Niagara Falls/Buffalo throughout my childhood so it’s nice to be back. Family medicine has always interested me long before medical school. The idea of being a “swiss army knife” and being able to take a holistic view of patient care has always guided my interests. I have been involved with the Canadian Osteopathic Medical Student Association (COMSA) for several years and have mentored many Canadian premedical students pursuing education in the United States. We hope to see the D.O. profession continue to grow in Canada. Outside of residency, I am excited to try the local cuisine and experience all that Buffalo has to offer. So far, I learned the pizza is much better this side of the border.
Why this Program?

3. Being able to train in Buffalo - physicians and facilities here are world class and we have great opportunities to access them.

Jonathan Weber, DO

Personal Info: I grew up in Angola, NY, a small town about 40 minutes from Buffalo. I attended St. Bonaventure University (Go Bonnies!) and played soccer for a couple of years and then made my way to LECOM in Erie. I was fortunate enough to do a rotation at Sisters during my 4th year with the family medicine department and was very impressed with what the program had to offer. In my spare time, I enjoy watching the Bills win, boating, kayaking (anything on the lake), working on my horrendous golf game, soccer, tennis and skiing.
Why this Program? I know I wanted to stay in the Buffalo region for the long term, where my roots are. Filled with good people, food, and of course the Buffalo Bills (Go Bills!). After rotating with this program, it was easy to get a sense of the teamwork, camaraderie and support you receive from residents and faculty. From my experience, everyone in the program is there to help you become a better doctor. Residency is going to be tough wherever you go, so it’s nice to know that at Sisters you work with a team that will always have your back. Picking Sisters was an easy choice.

Jessika Bauer, DO

Personal Info: I grew up just around the corner from Buffalo in Rochester, NY, where I attended college at St. John Fisher. After completing medical school in Virginia, I am super excited to be back in Western New York and close to family and friends! When I have some extra time off I love to travel and visit as many National Parks as I can! I enjoy golfing, snowboarding, going for hikes locally, water-color painting and playing with my puppy, Leo!
Fun Fact: I’ve gone skydiving, twice!
Why This Program: I had the opportunity to rotate at Sisters during my fourth year of medical school and immediately knew I wanted to continue my training here. The attendings and residents were all very personable, friendly, and were passionate about teaching, so I instantly felt at home. The combination of the program's long and well-established history of osteopathic recognition and emphasis on providing excellent medical care and continuity of care to patients made for a very easy decision to attend this program for residency. I look forward to being apart of the team here at Sister’s and serving the Buffalo community.

Personal Info: Hello everyone, my name is Amanda Corigliano. I grew up just outside of Buffalo and found that I enjoy spending time in the city. My hobbies are listening to music, watching movies, and writing. I am happiest when I have a hot cup of tea nearby! Of course, I also love spending time with my family, friends, and my adorable kitty cat Mochi.

Why This Program: I am a Buffalo person, born and raised. After attending my first two years of medical school on Long Island, I was overjoyed to come home and work at Sisters Hospital throughout my third year. The family medicine program here focuses on education and hard work while also offering a warm environment. The diverse community here also offers incredible opportunities to learn and expand my horizons. It made my decision easy!

Brent Cunningham, DO

Personal Info: I was born and raised in the land of 10,000 lakes. After high school I joined the Air Force as an AMMO troop and spent time in South Korea, Alaska, and Idaho. While volunteering as a ski patrolman in Alaska I became interested in medicine. I then returned home to the Midwest to complete my undergraduate degree in Wisconsin. I enjoy spending time with family, running, lifting weights, skiing, reading, playing board games, and DND.
Fun Fact: Much of my family heritage is Scottish, so I have three kilts.
Why This Program: Although I hadn’t done any rotations with the program, I had heard from friends that had and how they loved their rotations there. What I had heard was reaffirmed during my interactions with the faculty and residents during my interview. I was also very excited about the program’s strong osteopathic emphasis and holistic approach to care.

Personal Info: I was born in NYC, but lived in Rochester, NY for most of my life. During college, I also worked as an EMT, which is how I learned that I want to have a long-term relationship with my patients. After graduating college, I started medical school at the LECOM Erie campus on the problem-based learning track (PBL). I like to cross stitch, crochet, hike, and play pennywhistle when I have some down-time.
Fun Fact: I used to do volunteer work with refugees in Rochester.
Why This Program: I didn’t have the chance to rotate at Sisters of Charity as a student. However, I knew I wanted to stay in New York State since my parents and most of my friends are here. I also liked the osteopathic focus of the program because I want to improve those skills further.

Personal Info: I grew up just a mile away from the hospital in Buffalo. I attended City Honors High School before attending UB and receiving my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology. When away from medicine, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, eating good food, and obviously the Buffalo Bills.
Fun Fact: I worked as a Wish Granter for over 100 kids with the Make-A-Wish Foundation
Why This Program: I had the privilege of having Sisters Hospital as my core site for third- and fourth-year rotations during medical school. I realized quickly that there was an incredible work environment with the residents faculty and staff, and I knew it could provide me the best opportunity to serve my community of Buffalo for years to come.

Carson Jennings, DO

Personal Info: I grew up in a small town of 300 people in rural Kansas. After high school, I attended college at Kansas State University where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and was blessed to meet my wife who is now an OB/GYN resident here at Sister’s. When away from medicine I enjoy spending time with my wife, watching sports (particularly football), and exploring WNY.
Fun Fact: I once won a full-sized Kansas State University-themed school bus in a raffle.
Why This Program: When looking at residency programs, I was interested in finding a program that valued my interests and beliefs as an individual while providing great overall training. After meeting residents and faculty during my interview, I had a strong sense that this program would do that well. I was also excited that the program was affiliated with The University at Buffalo which has a wide range of fellowships if I identify an area of interest I wanted to pursue further after residency.

Personal Info: I was born and raised in Rochester, NY. I attended college at SUNY Geneseo where my love for the sciences grew. After shadowing all kinds of healthcare professionals I knew that becoming a physician was what I was called to do. I attended medical school in Mississippi where I grew to love southern food and hospitality. As much as I will miss the South, I thrive best when I am surrounded by family, so NY is where I knew I wanted to continue my medical education as a resident and raise my son with my husband. In my free time, I love to craft, bake, tend to my plants, and spend time outdoors with my family and dog.
Fun Fact: I make the world's best cheesecake.
Why This Program: I had the opportunity to do a rotation with the program at Sister’s and really enjoyed working with all of the other residents and the attendings. Everyone was so welcoming, eager to teach, and easy to get along with. In addition, I spent my fourth year of medical school in Buffalo and I really enjoyed living here. After going to medical school so far away I was excited to find a program I enjoyed so much that was close to home. It truly feels like the perfect fit!

Personal Info: I was born and raised in Toronto, and initially came to Buffalo for undergrad at Canisius College. After attending medical school at LECOM, I’m happy to be back in Buffalo, close to home in Toronto, and where many of my friends are. Outside of medicine, I spend most of my time doing anything and everything music related. Otherwise, I’m a big fan of various sports and trying as many different foods as I can.
Fun Fact: I’ve performed at many of Buffalo’s venues and events over the years!
Why This Program: As a student at Canisius College, I had some exposure to this hospital and this program through various events. Then, while in medical school, I was fortunate enough to do an audition rotation here. During these experiences, I was always welcomed with open arms. I appreciated the friendly learning environment, close-knit team culture, and diverse educational opportunities offered.

Personal Info: Buffalo born & raised, I needed to travel outside of NY for medical school and spent my free time exploring more of the wide and wonderful United States of America. While that was an amazing time, I knew it was time to come back home for my family and friends. When my time isn’t invested in medicine, it’s best spent on the road, on the water, or at the gym. Always planning for the next trip across this beautiful country, but never forgetting to take in the present day.
Fun Fact: One week before my residency began I fought a bear with my friends in Yosemite.
Why This Program: I was fortunate to rotate at Sisters of Charity in my 4th year of medical school and felt an immediate connection with the faculty and residents. The variety of skills and knowledge among the members of the program was a strong draw for me and I felt comfortable being a native Buffalonian. The strong religious connections at Catholic Health also brought me comfort in an ever-changing world, knowing that I would begin my training in a community that was supportive of my faith and practice.
