Program Director's Message

Stephen G. Chrzanowski, MD The University of Buffalo Internal Medicine Training Program of the Catholic Health System of Western New York invites you to take a closer look at our program.

Our commitment to excellence in medical education is achieved by combining hospital-based activities, a multifaceted outpatient experience, and an understanding of the realities of private practice within an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse patient population. We offer a fully approved, three-year program designed to satisfy the requirement for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or entry into subspecialty fellowship training programs. We highly value scholarship, and through our mandatory research electives, we encourage residents to publish in peer-review journals and present at national meetings.

Located in Buffalo, NY, our program is close to downtown which embodies the true essence of our community through its unique architecture, breath-taking artistic exhibits, and an abundance of historical sites. A short drive will bring you to the Canadian border and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the great Niagara Falls. Buffalo is a true combination of cultural enrichment, entertainment, delicious food, and athletic stimulation.

Our Program seeks candidates who wish to serve the greater community of Buffalo and the surrounding Western New York area. If you desire to ultimately practice in Buffalo there are many opportunities available to you through our Catholic Health System, and other local medical institutions. We offer an active physician recruitment program for which residents are eligible from the beginning of their training. The Catholic Health System of Western New York has received multiple accolades for high quality care and has implemented a state-of-the art electronic health record system. We emphasize evidence-based practice and are at the vanguard of healthcare reform in the United States having been accepted into the Federal Government Accountable Care Organization program.
